Hey there! I am Riccardo, originally from Florence (Italy), currently working in Paris as an Android Software Engineer at Contentsquare. I’ve been part of this exciting journey for more than a year now. Today, I’m here to give you a sneak peek into my daily life as a member of the Session Replay team, focusing on our Contentsquare SDK for Android.

My morning routine

My day kicks off with a good cup of Earl Grey tea and some healthy biscuits — it’s my secret recipe for starting the day on a positive note. Following this, I spend some time reading the latest Reddit posts, which are mainly about Android development and photography. Yes, I am a photographer in my free time, and I enjoy keeping my creativity active!

Arriving at work

My preferred mode of transportation? Well, these days, it’s from my kitchen to my home office, thanks to remote work. No crowded metros or traffic jams — just me, my laptop and a cozy workspace. I begin my day by checking my emails, reviewing the JIRA board to set daily goals and taking a look at GitHub for any ready pull requests. Next, it’s time to attend our quick standup to catch up on tasks, sync with the team and address any blockers.

My job responsibilities

The mission at hand is significant — it’s all about processing app frames in real time without affecting performances. Prioritising performance is crucial, given that Session Replay works in real-time and continuously processes a substantial amount of data in a limited timeframe. For this reason, optimizing battery and data consumption is also essential. Working on the Session Replay is challenging, but it’s the kind of challenge that keeps the neurons firing and never leaves you bored!

Collaboration and teamwork

Despite being fully remote, collaboration is at the heart of our team. We keep things streamlined with minimal meetings, except for our morning standup and a few scrum-related gatherings during the week. Due to the project’s complexity, constant communication is essential. Brainstorming and collaborating between teammates is where the real magic happens. Pair programming is the key to success for me: I believe two brains are better than one, especially when tackling complex tasks. PR reviews are crucial, too – they not only track changes and ensure code quality but also offer fresh perspectives, pushing me to up my coding game.

Lunch break

Lunchtime is a pause to recharge both body and mind. I prioritize cooking healthy meals, emphasizing the belief that a well-fed body equals a well-fueled brain. Contentsquare’s flexible work arrangements allow me to squeeze in a home workout or a stroll outside, breathing in some fresh air to keep my mind active. As a firm believer in the importance of a healthy work-life balance, these habits set the right tone for a productive afternoon.

Afternoon activities

Post-lunch, it’s back to the grind! The afternoon involves diving into support tickets, fixing bugs and making improvements. If there are no support tickets, it’s time for feature implementation. Continuous improvement is key, and the challenges we face in optimizing performance, battery and data consumption keep things exciting.

End of the day

As the day winds down, I take another stroll, stopping by a local grocery store before heading back home. Evenings are reserved for cooking a delicious dinner, reading IT books, exploring new technologies and catching up with family and friends.

The key to keeping a healthy equilibrium

Let me introduce you to Rebecca Edwards-Cook, a Talent Acquisition Specialist based in London. Rebecca has been a part of the Contentsquare team since April 2022 and collaborates with various business units, including Sales Development, to identify and connect top talent with exciting opportunities with us. Recently, we had the chance to sit down with her for a Q&A session to learn more about her role and her experience. During our conversation, we discussed her motivation for her job, delved into the Sales Development team, and she shared insights and tips for those interested in pursuing a career in Sales Development at Contentsquare. 

Can you tell us about your journey to Contentsquare and your role here?

I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2017, not really knowing where I wanted to go or what I wanted to do, so I did some traveling abroad. I landed my first job in Australia as a Coordinator. From there, I worked in this function, but I always had this itch to work in-house, to fully understand the business I recruited for, and to feel fulfilled by bringing people into a company that was exciting to work for. 

In early 2022, Contentsquare reached out to me. I was super excited about it, and it’s been a great place to be. We have the resources, structure, and established teams to do our work, but we still have that startup mentality – things move fast, and you have a lot of autonomy in your role. It’s not so structured that you can’t make an impact.

In my role, I partner with different business units, including Sales Development. It’s a constant learning experience. I tackle new challenges with every role I recruit for, and I do my best to provide the best candidate experience to each person I engage with about opportunities here. A career switch is a big deal, so I do my best to partner with them and be honest and open in communications. Once I hire someone, it’s exciting to interact with them at work. 

Could you give us an overview of Contentsquare’s Sales Development team, its importance within the company, and what they do on a daily basis?

The Sales Development team plays an integral part of our pipeline generation for potential Contentsquare clients. I work closely with our EMEA Sales Development team. Within EMEA, we have different teams in Paris, Munich, Amsterdam, London, and Madrid. Each team is dedicated to different markets in the region. These teams are crucial in shaping our business and determining our growth strategies. Each region has its unique approach to market evangelism. For instance, we have strong brand recognition in France, whereas newer markets require more extensive evangelism efforts.

The day-to-day of an SDR includes lead generation by prospecting – making outbound calls, and building email campaigns. They are researching enterprise prospects in their market and building targeted strategies to engage with CSuites. They qualify these leads and work closely with their Account Executive to set up meetings or demos. Sales Development requires patience, persistence, and a desire to go beyond and be better. They may also take additional training or focus on self-improvement on product knowledge and sales skills. 

In your opinion, why is Contentsquare’s Sales Development Program a great place to kick off a career in tech sales?

If you’re eyeing a career in tech sales, you can’t go wrong at Contentsquare. In addition to being in the B2B enterprise space as a market leader, the sales team has a strong training program, and Contentsquare as a whole prioritizes growth and development. 

Our sales team receives a strong foundation of the DXA industry, client profiles, our product, and SaaS sales in general. We have a dedicated Sales Enablement team to ensure that our new SDRs receive comprehensive onboarding and all the tools and tactics for success in their first three months, and following onboarding, they continue to support the ongoing development of our teams. In addition to formal training, SDRs also collaborate closely with their Account Executives weekly, which not only helps with day-to-day tasks but also provides an invaluable opportunity to learn from some of the best professionals in the DXA space.

In terms of growth and development, as long as you’re dedicated to your work, proactive in your role, and committed to learning, you’ll find opportunities to advance. While the traditional path from SDR leads to becoming Account Executives, all employees engage in professional development discussions alongside their quarterly performance reviews. As a result, we’ve witnessed SDRs transition to various other areas of our business, including Customer Success, Sales Enablement, SDR Management, and more.

What makes an ideal candidate for the Sales Development team at Contentsquare? 

This can change from region to region, but the focus is massively on soft skills. As long as you give your all, you want to learn, are proactive, and take on everything you can, they aren’t opposed to those without sales experience.

In terms of soft skills, curiosity takes the lead– SDRs do a lot of talking in the role but also need to have a genuine thirst for knowledge. In their day-to-day, they ask probing questions, actively listen to responses, grasp pain points, and respond. Additionally, it involves having a deep-seated curiosity to grow your skills and a genuine desire to learn and be the best. 

We also want to see a determination for a career in sales. Resilience is key, both during the interview process and when you’re in the role itself. Being an SDR offers great satisfaction but also can have its challenges, and those who understand these and are realistic about what to expect tend to excel. 

We also seek individuals who are driven by targets whilst also thriving in a team environment. The Sales Development team fosters an environment of open communication and transparency, and they lean on each other, so collaboration is crucial in this role with a preference for a healthy sense of competition. Not necessarily competition with your team members, but a competition with oneself to continuously improve – one that encourages personal excellence but doesn’t involve sacrificing the needs of the team.

Lastly, a desire to genuinely understand our mission and our values at Contentsquare. When you’re interviewing here, we want to see what you’ve done to research us, what you’ve found, and how that relates to your personal motivations or aspirations for a company. We want to have an understanding of what makes us unique to you, how you resonate with Contentsquare’s vision, and why we’re a preferred choice. 

If you show these during the interview process, you will stand out. 

If someone were to apply, do you have any resume or application tips? 

As a recruiter, we often have to fill multiple roles at a time, which means we have roughly hundreds of resumes to look through each week. 

If you’re applying to the role, always answer the application questions in detail, and make sure we can get the most out of your resume in the least amount of time. Here are some tips:

  • Write your role type (intern, full-time employee, contractor, etc.)
  • Write a blurb about what industry you were in and what your previous companies did. 
  • If you don’t have experience in sales, write a paragraph about why you’re looking to break into this field
  • Highlight any achievements that show that you challenge yourself and/or are research-driven, such as sports, clubs, projects, etc. 

As an aspiring SDR, you may also reach out to recruiters via LinkedIn. This can be a great way to make yourself stand out, but it’s important to focus on your messaging and note that every recruiter has different preferences. In my opinion, when you do reach out, simply let us know that you have applied and express your interest in the role. We will review your application and get back to you as soon as possible. 

Could you provide insight into the interview process and tips for success? 

The interview process varies from region to region and team to team, however, there will always be a phone screen, a manager interview, a team interview, and a possible assignment presentation or role-play pitch within one of those steps.  Your recruiter, if not myself, will always communicate the steps with you at the beginning of the process. 

In terms of preparation for the interview, I always send a prep email to candidates, letting them know what to expect during the interview and tips for success. If you have not received this from your recruiter, don’t hesitate to ask them, and they will share it with you. It’s also important to have an elevator pitch for phone screens and interviews. Be sure to be clear and concise and communicate with impact. It’s important to avoid sounding too rehearsed and instead focus on building a relationship through two-way conversation. In order to effectively communicate, understanding social cues and active listening is also essential. 

Lastly, following each stage of the interview process, you’ll get feedback – positive and/or constructive. Show resilience and determination for your career and breaking into the role, and don’t hesitate to reapply in the future.

Last year, I shared my exciting news, communicating to my teams, colleagues and other Contentsquare employees that I would be going on maternity leave in January 2023. Of course, I didn’t know exactly when. I was expecting a baby girl, and that’s all of the information I had. Late in my pregnancy, I watched “Workin’ Moms” on Netflix for additional education – and comedic relief – which ended up being humorous and somewhat realistic at times. I prepped a handover document at work, had a wonderful virtual baby shower on Zoom with colleagues, and literally closed and locked up my laptop in a closet for months.

Liberating? Not quite.

What came next was more than what I could have ever imagined. When my husband and I welcomed our daughter and our world changed immediately, work was understandably one of the last things on my mind. At that moment, it became physical and mental, and mental and physical, and continued to fluctuate between the two over the course of my maternity leave. My mind and body were challenged in ways I had not yet experienced in my life. My patience levels were tested. Taking care of another human – literally – is the real deal. The daily skills I needed were extremely different from the ones I had been used to throughout my career – answering emails, drafting press releases, crafting spokespeople quotes, running meetings, and being a team player. Now, I was leading the team of “mother” with a new member in tow – my baby. Core skills included changing diapers, feeding my baby, watching her cues to make sure she napped or ate when needed, quickly cleaning toys that dropped on the floor, and of course, losing sleep. Yet while I lost countless hours of sleep in the early days (just like they tell you), it did get better as the days and weeks went on (also, just like they tell you). 

When I returned to work this past summer, it was definitely bittersweet. Brushing the figurative dust off my computer and re-logging into Gmail and Slack was familiar but different. I knew my line of work, my role, my team members and my colleagues, but I felt a little bit like I had been walking on a path and wasn’t quite sure what else had appeared on that path in the months that I had been away.

One of the key skills that’s clear about working in PR is quickly acclimating to new situations, and that’s exactly what I did and am continuing to do. It’s a new adjustment, with things like factoring in time for daycare dropoff after being a remote WFH employee for many months and eagerly waiting to receive daily photo updates of my daughter on the play mat while I work through my afternoon at my computer. Preparing bottles when I have a free moment to get ahead of the early evening dinner and bedtime rush, which I hear only gets more complicated once we enter toddlerhood and beyond! And more.

As my daughter gets older and will grow out of the baby stage, into a toddler, little kid and eventually a big kid, I hope that she learns firsthand by watching me and others, that any woman can work while also being a mother. I hope that she will see that you can juggle it all.

World Mental Health Day, October 10

For over 30 years, Mental Health Day has been observed across the world to shed light on well-being and mental health.

Mental health is:

  • Your emotional well-being
  • Your psychological well-being
  • Your social well-being
  • A priority

Mental Health is not:

  • Taboo
  • Unalterable
  • Always visible to others
  • Two words at the bottom of a to-do list

Mental health issues can affect anyone, regardless of their circumstances, including in the workplace.

Recent studies claim we spend an average of 90,000 hours of our lifetime at work. So we might as well care for ourselves and the colleagues surrounding us. Contentsquare is aware of its responsibility in providing a healthy work environment and and supports several initiatives to promote well-being in the workplace. These include Plumm, our mental health support program providing meditation, coaching, and therapy services. The Culture Crew also plays a role in improving your work-life experience through various creative activities: Painting lessons, silent disco, cooking classes, knitting classes, video game tournaments are just a few examples of what they have organized for employees to meet each other and have fun. In some offices, yoga classes are available, and there’s also the well-being allowance, specifically designed for self-investment. It can be used, amongst other things, for courses, sport equiptment, theatre tickets, massage sessions, and various events.  Meetings are also a huge part of our daily work lives. To ensure they don’t become a burden, Contentsquare outlined guidelines (the do’s and don’ts as well as a meeting brief) on how to conduct pleasant & efficient meetings. A Decision Tree has also been created to double-check that a meeting is needed in the first place! On top of an individual approach, a structural approach, such as rethinking our daily habits, is necessary to take care of mental health on a company-large scale.

That being said, no matter what the company implements, you are the only person who knows what’s right for you, and you might not find your peace in what’s been listed above. Therefore, we’ll share some tips that will help you address any physical or mental challenges you may be facing.

As you may already know, sitting down and working on a computer for several hours without breaks is unhealthy (let alone for 90,000 hours). Add to this stressful meetings and a multitude of tasks and you’ve got the exploding cocktail.We understand you can’t simply click ‘delete’ on all these factors, but you do need to prioritize your mental health, so here’s what you can do:

Take a real break
Yes, a real ‘mind break’ – not 5 minutes on your mobile phone or freely browsing on your computer; go for a walk, stretch, or just breathe deeply for a few minutes! You have a beautiful landscape desktop background, but the ones outside, although sometimes less beachy, are still worth it. Block some time on your calendar if you need to. Breaks are as important and deeply linked to your working time. A well-rested brain hour of work is much more efficient than 2 hours of an annoyed and tired person.

Play a sport or just get moving
No need to start with a triathlon – you’d be surprised how good you can feel after a little jog or some bodyweight exercises. Enjoy a calming playlist, or the sound of nature in your closest park. Sports generate endorphins: neurotransmitters that improve your mood and reduce stress. It’s worth it.

Give back to those around you
Do you want to know what else can boost your energy? Giving back. How about mentoring someone from the company at the company you work? You get what you give (great song by New Radicals), so do provide guidance to anyone seeking it! You could join an employee resource group or even volunteer for NGOs outside of work. What you can also do is help others on a specific task. Theres no such thing as being too great of a human being and research shows that committing to one act of kindness a week  is associated with an increase in well-being.

Stop Switch-tasking
This is widely spread and unrecommended. You might not realize it, but you’re not being more productive. Quite the opposite actually. Several studies have shown that when one thinks they’re multitasking, what they’re truly doing is switch-tasking, which results in a loss of time. The human brain is not made to do several cognitive tasks at once. You will be more efficient and therefore avoid frustration if you focus on each task one at a time. Try it for 30 minutes, don’t check your emails, put away your phone, mute your slack, and focus on that one chore. 

Follow the 3×20 rule
The 3×20 rule is also a good tip to have in mind. Every 20 minutes look 20 meters away for 20 seconds. It’s an “easy-win” healthwise, and can keep the headaches away. 

Communicate openly
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed, don’t keep it bottled up. Chat with your colleagues, friends, family, manager or HRBP about it. Let’s make talking about mental health at work as normal as discussing last night’s TV shows. 

Set boundaries between work and life
Don’t let your work hours bleed into your personal time. Work is just part of your life, not your entire life. Manage your time, make room for hobbies, friends, and family. When it’s vacation time, go full “out of office” mode and enjoy yourself. One first-step of doing so is to disable your slack and work email notifications on your mobile phone. 

Have a laugh
Finally, have a laugh! Watch a funny movie or show, spend time with your friends or family who brighten your day, read a funny book, have a game night, or attend a comedy show. Laughter releases endorphins, reduces stress, and boosts your mood, making it a powerful tool for improving mental health and promoting a positive outlook on life. 

Truth is: Once we become more aware of the factors that drain our energy, we can be more intentional about how we incorporate regular revitalization activities into our daily routines to eliminate that mental fatigue and even boost our energy. Once you give yourself some “me time” it’s a virtuous circle, personally and professionally. Check the Channel of Communication

Contentsquare maintains specific communication channels for official correspondence – these include email from a company email account or via LinkedIn from an employee of the company. Contentsquare does not initiating contact with job seekers through text messages, Google Chat and Microsoft Outlook

Detect Fraudulent Communications by Analyzing Writing Style

Scammers often reveal themselves through unprofessional and poorly formatted emails and documents. Pay attention to the quality and professionalism of the correspondence you receive. Letters of employment, benefits overviews, and other official documents from Contentsquare should not only come from a verified communication channel, but also be well-structured, free from grammatical errors, and adhere to our established branding guidelines. If you notice inconsistencies or unprofessionalism, it’s a strong indicator of a potential scam.

Personal Information Protection

Equipment Purchases/Money and Cryptocurrency Requests

Before or after being hired by Contentsquare, you will never be asked to send funds for equipment purchases or any other reason. This is an uncommon and suspicious request to come from any company. If you encounter such a request, you must exercise extreme caution and refrain from complying. Reflecting on my Internal Communications Internship at Contentsquare

As my six-month internship with Contentsquare comes to an end, I’m taking this time to reflect on how much growth I’ve experienced. The Internal Communications Intern position had me working directly with Internal Communications Manager, Sabrina Dufour, who allowed me to take this internship in the direction that I wanted and cater it to my passions and skill sets. 

As a sophomore at Rutgers University studying Journalism and Media Studies with a minor in Data Science, writing is a huge part of my daily life. Being able to draft not just global communications, but also pieces for The CSquare Blog, Contentsquare’s internal communications platform, sharing the stories of CSquad members has been one of the highlights of my internship. 

Speaking of the CSquare… contributing to a project and seeing it come into fruition from start to finish was by far the most rewarding experience during my time here! From populating content, writing up captions, and working with the UX Team and Design Team, I truly experienced being part of a united team working towards a collaborative goal.

It’s crazy to believe that I began as an intimidated 18 year old intern on a floor full of accomplished executives and even our very own CEO, Jonathan Cherki. The welcoming environment that was fostered by the entire community shifted my narrative from intimidated to feeling invigorated and excited to come into the office. From the time I clocked in to the time I clocked out everyday, I felt included through gestures such as genuine conversations during lunch, which made my experience that much more positive.

While I learned a plethora of things, the most valuable lessons I’ve learned are to no longer be afraid of edits. I no longer shy away from others seeing and critiquing my work after seeing how it results in a stronger end product. I’ve also mastered time management from balancing multiple projects whilst being a full-time student in college and commuting from out of state. 

So, what’s next for me? I’m excited to announce that I’ll be delving into the world of marketing! I’ve accepted a spring internship position as a marketing intern for a consulting firm here in New York City. Being able to navigate and utilize Hubspot is ultimately what got me this role, which I learned through the creation of The CSquare! 

It’s been rewarding to see that the skills learned here are already applying to advancements in my professional career. I’ll also continue to live out my life as a student as I finish out my sophomore year at Rutgers. I plan on implementing my newly learned leadership qualities to make a difference on campus as the Vice President of Phi Mu, a sorority with the highest overall campus GPA. 

Upon my reflection, all I feel is gratitude towards a company that has kept my best interests at heart and has challenged me to continue growing by pushing me out of my comfort zone. The skills, lessons and connections I have gained at Contentsquare have exceeded my expectations and made this experience valuable beyond measure. I can’t wait to see how transformed Contentsquare is by the time I graduate college, and maybe in a few years you’ll see me returned to the CSquad like I never even left!

Meet Leah, Account Development Representative (ADR) at Contentsquare. Leah joined Contentsquare in September 2022 for a 6-month internship. Before her internship ended we sat down for an in-depth Q&A to discuss her experience on the Sales Development team. Leah gave us a glimpse into her background and experience, her day in life as an ADR, her learning experiences, and more… 

Tell me about yourself, Leah:

I’m originally from Paris, but I graduated from Royal Holloway with a Business Management degree in June 2022. From there, I wanted to take a gap year to gain work experience to help figure out my likes and dislikes before deciding on a Master’s degree. I was interested in Marketing as a career, but during this gap year, I wanted to explore sales and intern abroad. I was told that sales is a great position to learn skills for the future, such as communication, and clear and analytical thinking, so here I am now. I landed at Contentsquare, where I’m working full-time as an ADR out of Amsterdam. 

How did you find this internship opportunity and what did the interview process look like? 

I found Contentsquare on Welcome to the Jungle. At the time, Contentsquare was exploding. I applied and was granted an interview where I met with a recruiter, the ADR team leader, the EMEA Sales leader, and the SDR Manager. Before interviewing, I understood the position but struggled to understand the product. They took the time to explain both to me in detail and I had a much better understanding after each interview. 

Why did you choose Contentsquare and how do you feel about your decision after a few months here? 

I knew I wanted to get into the tech sector and Contentsquare is the best product in digital experience and analytics.  I networked with a Contentsquare employee who told me more about the company, its values, the global environment, the well-being focus, and the social opportunities. 

After one month of onboarding, I started operating in my role. I feel enhanced here. I’m pushed to do my best and I get great training/advice that has helped me grow. I’ve also gotten to know my colleagues not just on a professional level, but on a personal level as well. 

What does a day in the life of an Account Development Representative look like? 

As an ADR, I’m responsible for working on opportunities to influence – building prospect lists, researching, and prepping the accounts for the SDRs so they can tackle the account properly. In my role, I also have the opportunity to act as an SDR and create pipelines from scratch. 

Monday and Tuesday we have strategic meetings internally with the SDR and AE teams. I’m really energized in the mornings, so Wednesday – Friday I focus on calls and email outreach early in the day to get as much response as possible, then I get lunch and come back to wrap up my day working with SDRs on account plans and administrative work. 

Being an ADR is exciting. I like the role and what I am doing. It gives me a good taste and glimpse into what it’s like being an SDR and then growing further as an AE – so much so that I do get frustrated that I can’t go further into the sales cycle ;). 

If you had to describe an event or project that you’ve learned the most from, what would it be and why? 

Different things come to mind. I recently went to a fun event in Luxembourg with an Account Executive to prospect and network. It was a great learning experience, I got a lot of opportunities out of that event, and I was able to bond and learn from the Sales team. 

I’m also working on an SDR/ADR collaboration project in EMEA. I’ve learned about strategy and assessment, leadership skills, communication skills, and process improvement. 

Is there anything else you’ve learned in your internship that you feel has benefited you in your career?

I feel set up for success because I joined a company that offers real learning opportunities for interns. Contentsquare is a unicorn company. It’s well-known, has great HR, has an amazing product with great people to support it, and people that are willing to help you learn according to your expertise. 

In this role, I’ve built on my hard and soft skills. Cold calling has improved my communication skills. I’ve learned inductive reasoning and practical analysis. I’ve learned a significant amount of information about our product and I’ve learned about the market – needs and challenges of different verticals and personas as well as pitching the Contentsquare product to each of those.  

Do you have any recommendations for those looking for an internship or new position? 

The best advice I have for any intern at Contentsquare, in any position, is (1) do not be afraid to ask questions and (2) introduce yourself and interact with not just those in your departments, but with other departments that you work with as well.  Curiosity is a good thing and when you broaden your connections, that is where you will learn the most. 

If interviewing for an ADR position then just be yourself. Be curious, be excited, and show that you want to be a part of this company and how you can provide value in this position. Being an ADR in a company that is still growing like Contentsquare you aren’t just seen as an intern but as someone that helps Contentsquare improve.

Meet Salimata Sylla, Emerging Talent Acquisition Intern at Contentsquare. Salimata joined Contentsquare in September 2022 for a 6-month internship. Q:Can you tell me about yourself?

Salimata: I’m a student, an intern and an entrepreneur based in Paris, France. I’ve worked in healthcare and retail, and I also help women start their own businesses. I’m not new to the workforce—but furthering my education and career. I’m currently getting a Masters’s degree in Applied Foreign Languages at the University of Rouen.

Q:How did you find this internship opportunity, and what was your experience throughout the recruitment process?

It’s quite strange, actually. I didn’t apply for this internship. I was contacted on LinkedIn by a Talent Sourcer at Contentsquare. At the time, I was a DEI intern at a large retailer looking for my second internship opportunity to validate my Masters’s degree. This message stood out to me in a flood of disinteresting recruiting messages on LinkedIn. It seemed too good to be true, so I had to explore it further!

I took the phone call with the Talent Sourcer, who introduced Contentsquare and the opportunity. It was not too good to be true; it was as it was described. After the initial call, I moved forward in the recruitment process. I spoke with the Contentsquare talent acquisition manager and then met with the hiring manager. The recruitment process was simple and invigorating. The further I got, I said to myself, “I need this position.”

Q:What made you choose the Contentsquare talent acquisition team?

As mentioned earlier, I was looking for a new opportunity, but it also had to align with my needs. I wanted a long-term, paid internship, to work in an English-speaking environment, to be challenged by high-impact projects, and to work for a company that was on a mission for good.

At the time, I had no notion of tech jobs. Still, I was intrigued by Contentsquare’s mission to make the digital world more human by providing a tool for businesses to understand their customers’ online behaviors — customers like myself — and optimize their online presence to ensure a seamless and great experience online. I was also happy to hear that Contentsquare was a company with strong values. Like many students today, I also believe working for a company with core values and an impactful mission is essential. In addition to the company, the role attracted me; it is a unique opportunity to work as an intern building a program designed specifically for individuals like me. The company and position met my needs, so accepting their offer was a no-brainer.

As an intern, I’m always apprehensive about a new position and whether or not the environment and position are as it is delivered in the interview process. I am very pleased to say that Contentsquare presents itself correctly.

The integration was seamless and the onboarding process was smooth. My first week at Contentsquare started with company-wide onboarding and role-specific onboarding. I started alongside a group of global full-time employees and interns in different departments and we all participated in Rocket Days (our global onboarding program), IT, and HR Sessions together. I met with my globally-distributed team members and manager. My manager is in the United States, my mentor and colleague are in Rennes, France, and I collaborate with other stakeholders globally. I was also invited to lunch with the TA team members also based in Paris.

The overall work environment is great. I am a hybrid employee and I go into the Paris office 2-3 days a week so I get to work collaboratively in person and experience the office environment and also via zoom with my team. I’ve been brought in as a true part of the team with a voice versus an intern who just completes tasks assigned.

Q:What is your role as an intern? Do you feel that you are valued and that you are doing something useful?

In my position, I am currently assisting in building out the company’s internship and apprenticeship program from scratch. I’m working on impactful projects with my team on things such as facilitating our first in-house campus event with a business school in Paris, global internship compensation, and more. It is a very unique opportunity. I get to act as a voice for the participants and give my input to ensure the program meets its potential and serves the participants in the best way possible.

Q:If you had to describe an event or project that you’ve learned the most from, what would it be and why?

The internship compensation project. This was the first time I’d worked on a large-scale global project. I worked closely with my mentor, Antoine, Emerging Talent Acquisition Specialist and we collaborated with various stakeholders on the compensation and benefits, HR operations, and TA teams.

A project of this magnitude brings its own set of challenges and I learned how to navigate those. I learned the importance of research, strong interpersonal skills, communication, collaboration, organization, creating a compelling presentation, and how to present to leadership.

Q: Is there anything else you’ve learned in your Contentsquare talent acquisition internship that you feel has benefited you in your career?

As I mentioned, this isn’t my first professional experience. This is, however, my first experience in a tech startup company and my first experience in talent acquisition. The tech industry is different from others that I have worked in. I’ve learned a new way of working—working fast and delivering quality results by planning/preparation, being detailed and precise, and trusting my team. As an entrepreneur, I was hesitant about the corporate environment and this experience has given me a new perspective. It’s also reinforced the importance of strong company values and culture. My experience at Contentsquare is a building block to my future success and has undoubtedly contributed to my growth.

Q:What’s your goal for your future?

My goal and passion are to help women break into the business world and I would be honored to help women break into tech.

Q: Do you have any recommendations for those looking for an internship or new position?

I would recommend everyone explore opportunities presented to them, and be intentional with how you chose your position. Look for a position that provides value to YOU. If not, you will lose time. If you want to go back to school, do that. Don’t be afraid to start a journey to land in a better environment.
